August 2024 Trendsetter Travel Golf Newsletter

We have spent the past month finalising our golf programmes on our 2025 golf tours.  We feature our 13 game Lisbon to Copenhagen June 2025  golf cruise where we present our most outstanding ever golf portfolio. This is significant as the cruise is on the revamped Crystal Serenity, arguably the most luxurious cruise ship on offer of all the cruise ships in the 500 to 800 guest capacity range.  Significantly, this is also Trendsetter’s 35th luxury golf cruise.

Golf Tours Still with Availability in Calendar 2025
For those not already booked on their preferred Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours (TTGT) 2025 golf tours, we note availability exists on the following four 2025 tours:

• Lisbon to Copenhagen – Golf Cruise (Crystal) – 12 to 30 June 2025
• Toronto to Chicago – Great Lakes Cruise – 17 to 30 August 2025
• St Lawrence River – New York to Montreal – 14 to 26 September 2025

In addition to the above we have one room available on our Japan land tour – 12 to 28 October 2025 – but only for one single or a golfer/non golfer couple (ie we only have room for one additional golfer).

Crystal – 12 to 30 June 2025 Golf Programme

Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours has finalised its 13 game optional golf programme on its Crystal Serenity Golf Cruise from Lisbon to Copenhagen – 12/30 June 2025.  This golf cruise can also be booked as shorter 12 to 22 June (10 nights) Lisbon to Portsmouth and 22 to 30 June (8 nights) Portsmouth to Copenhagen cruise sectors.

The cruise includes an expanded golf programme of up to 13 golf courses, with 6 games on each of the two cruise sectors and a 13th game near Portsmouth for those on the 18 night cruise.   Importantly, you can choose as much or as little golf as you prefer to play with all golf games priced at near cost to TTGT.  A magnificent choice of golf courses is offered through 7 countries including Portugal, France, England, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway and Denmark with 7 of the golf courses top 10 in their respective countries.  Sufficient motorised golf carts have been pre-booked at all golf courses scheduled to be played.  Highlights of the golf programme include:

  • In Porto, Estela Golf Club, a magnificent links course facing the Atlantic Ocean, is the # 1 rated course in Northern Portugal and is considered one of the best links courses in all Portugal.
  •  A long shore day is had in San Sebastian (located in northern Spain near the French border), giving time to explore both this famous town and to also golf at Chantago Golf Club.  The course dates back to its original design by Harry Colt but in 2018 it went through an extensive renovation of both the golf course and club rooms.  The course hosted the Ladies Open de France from 2012 to 2017 and the French Open for their male counterparts was also held here in 1970, an event won by Australian David Graham.  Following completion of an extensive refurbishment works in 2020, this is now one of the best courses in South West France.
  • We spend 3 days in Bordeaux and play 2 of France’s top golf courses – Chateaux Course at Golf du Medoc and the Tom Doak designed Golfique du Grand Saint-Emilionnais (2015).  From Bordeaux, we sail to the pretty French port of St Malo where we golf at the historic Golf de Dinard, a links course and one of the highest rated golf courses in north west France.
  • We sail across to England and berth in historic Plymouth.  From there the golfers journey to play the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course at St Mellion Resort (1988).  The course is highly rated and Jack Nicklaus’ first European golf course.  The following day, we berth in nearby Portsmouth with golf on offer at the Downs Course, Goodward Park, one the leading golf courses in Hampshire.
  • Sailing across the English Channel has us berth at the famous Belgium port of Zeebrugge.   A short drive will see the golfers at Royal Ostend Golf Club (1903), the number # 1 links course in Belgium.  The cruise sales north to Amsterdam where 2 golf games are on offer, including a top 10 golf course, Golfsociëteit De Lage Vuursche.  The Netherlands has over 270 golf courses.
  • Travelling north, the golf cruise has 2 long port days in southern Norway, at Stavanger and Kristiansand where golf is played at two of Norway’s top 7 golf courses (out of over 150 golf courses in Norway). Stavanger Golf Club is a lovely historic tree lined course.  Whereas Bjaavann Golf Club (2006) is a stunning Robert Trent Jones course played through the mountains and around a lake – they do not come much better than this course.
  • We take a short sail across the Baltic Sea and berth for 10 hours in Aarhus, Denmark’s 2nd largest city.  We are in for a treat as we play Lubker Golf Course (2008), another Robert Trent Jones designed layout and the # 3 ranked course out of 190 Danish golf courses.  It was independently ranked the best new international golf course in 2008.
  • For those without enough golf on the cruise golf programme, Trendsetter has organised a 3-night post cruise extension which includes accommodation in a 5 star Copenhagen hotel and the opportunity to play one or both of the Old and New Scandinavian Golf Courses (ranked # 2 and # 5 in Denmark) located at the number one golf complex in Denmark, the 36 hole Scandinavian Golf Club.  We consider The Old Course, played on a previous Trendsetter Golf Cruise tour, would rank as one of our 3 best golf courses in Europe.

We still have staterooms available on our Crystal Golf Cruise and the itinerary can be found on the following link:
