Pamela Fairburn, Bach Ed (Art), Grad Dip Visual Arts is a Sydney watercolour and mixed media artist who has been working in the Visual Arts and Art Education arena for over 40 years. She lives, paints and teaches in Longueville, NSW Australia. Pamela has been involved in numerous group and solo exhibitions and her paintings have won many awards and prizes. She has been organising art tours & workshops in Australia and overseas for over 12 years.
Nova Scotia, on the NE Canadian seaboard, is a place where you can feel your pace fall in sync with the rhythm of the sea and breathe deeply in the pristine wilderness with its peaceful lakes and spruce forests. For an artist, October is a perfect time to experience the landscape as it begins to change to its rich autumn hues. Let your creativity blossom on this exciting discovery Tour.
Join Pamela as she helps you develop your painting techniques in this inspiring and wild landscape. Together with her husband Ross, a keen photographer, she will ensure that you have an enriching painting vacation.
The tour commences in the seaport of Halifax, rich in maritime history, gives us many opportunities to paint around the harbour boardwalks and wharves as well in the Citadel historic site and the Public Gardens.
Leaving Halifax, we navigate west to the Bay of Fundy region where we find Annapolis Royal, a quaint seaside town steeped in heritage and tradition. Staying in a traditional Inn we can appreciate some of the oldest timber buildings in Canada and the town’s charming streetscape which has been designated a National Historic District. Our painting workshops include visits to a fort from the 1700’s, old pioneer settlements and captivating historic gardens.
After our coastal explorations, we will travel inland to Trout Point. Here we will enjoy exclusive use of a luxury wilderness resort nestled in a Biosphere Reserve. During our relaxed stay your painting workshops will be inspired by pristine Nature, surrounded by unique wetlands, mossy rivulets, forest walkways and tranquil lakes. You can even head out for a canoe paddle on the lake or experience Forest Bathing in the lush Arcadian landscape. Afterwards you can soak in the wood-fired hot tub beside the rushing Tusket River and at night star gaze around a warming fire pit
We will then set course for the coast again…to seafaring Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you are greeted by the original buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries with their colourful facades. Staying for a few days in Lunenburg you will enjoy en-plain air workshops in this nautical environment.
Continuing our coastal exploration we will follow the Lighthouse Route along Nova Scotia’s South Shore as it winds through historic shipbuilding communities and traditional fishing villages with their colourful lobster boats. We will discover lighthouses such as the famous Peggy’s Cove Light and explore the rugged coastline with its vibrant yellow seaweed kelp.
After 2 weeks of inspiring painting workshops and excursions our tour ends in Halifax with a celebratory Farewell Dinner and an exhibition of our creations.
We hope you will join us to Navigate Nova Scotia.
