Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours invites you to join us on our inaugural 15 night Vietnam Golf Tour commencing in Hanoi and concluding in Saigon. The tour is structured to show you the history of Vietnam with particular emphasis on the Vietnam War (1962 to April 1975) and at the same time enjoy golf at a selection of the best golf courses in Vietnam.
You will play the top 2 x courses in Vietnam (including playing the # 1 rated course twice) and 5 of your 8 golf games are on top 6 x golf courses. Many leading golf course architects have found acclaim for their Vietnamese golf courses and among them, we will play multiple Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman golf designs. Golf in Vietnam is mostly of a very high standard with elevated green fees at the best golf courses. It is played with female caddies, one per golfer, and a mandatory two person golf cart (with golfer and caddy sharing cart). In practice, you can walk the whole course, only jumping on the golf cart when you prefer. Your caddy will always be there with a selection of golf clubs, including the club you would prefer to use. Playing golf with caddies makes golf in Vietnam a real pleasure.
Post golf, we will have drinks (with optional meals) in usually grand clubrooms with often opulent facilities. A day out for golf in Vietnam is a wonderful experience. As always, your golf with Trendsetter is inclusive of green fees, cart fees, caddy fees, coach transfers, drinks post golf, competition management, regular re-handicapping and prize money. All you pay for is the caddy gratuity (a minimum of USD 20 per caddy).
While this is a golf tour, there will be plentiful opportunities to soak up the sites and culture of Vietnam. There will be day tours of Hanoi and Hoi An and when in Vung Tau we have organised a special half day tour of the nearby site of Nui Dat (where the Australian Task Force was based for around 7 years (1965 to 1972)) and the iconic battle of Long Tan – a 30/45 minute drive from your hotel.

We have scheduled this tour for March/April when temperatures should be warm but comfortable and we miss the oppressive heat of summer and the wet season. We are surprised when we see other hosted golf tours of Vietnam scheduled over the May to December period when this runs into summer heat and the wet season. We personally inspected much of where we will visit in March/April 2025 and can personally vouch for the ideal golf and general travel conditions.
Our hotels throughout the tour are all rated 5 star (some luxury 5 star). All are relatively large rooms, have walk in showers (sometimes with stand-alone baths) and either Queen or King beds. We commence our tour with 5 x nights in Hanoi (with our stay at the historic Sofitel Metropole Hotel, probably still the most luxurious and grand hotel in Vietnam) with 3 x games of golf and a day tour, followed by Da Nang/Hoi An with 3 games of golf and 1 x day of touring and concluding with 4 x nights in Vung Tau and 2 x games of golf plus day touring. We transfer late afternoon on 3 April to Saigon where we will spend our final night and farewell function. The reason for 1 x night in Saigon is to ensure all our tour party are well located and rested to travel to Tan Son Nhat International Airport and their onward flights home.
Other than our welcome and farewell drinks/dinners, you will have the opportunity for independent dining on all other evenings. Groups lunches (including drinks) will be included on our 3 x days of guided touring.
The official currency in Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong (VPN). However, most suppliers quote in USD and notes in both VPN and USD are acceptable tender everywhere (you definitely require cash when touring Vietnam and cannot rely on credit cards alone). The mid point exchange rate, as at 9 November 2025, is 26,300 VPN to USD 1. In addition to bringing some USD in cash, you should obtain some VPN either at the airport on arrival or at a currency machine in Saigon. Tipping is expected just about everywhere in Vietnam and Cambodia, and having smaller denominations of VPN will give you greatest flexibility. You should expect to tip your personal transfer drivers on arrival/departure (approximately USD5) and golf caddies (USD 20/25 per round). The Vietnamese are a wonderful people – friendly and hard working.
Pre tour (or post tour if preferred), we are offering a 3 day/2 night private tour to Halong Bay which includes return transfers from Sofitel Metropole, 1 night in a 5 star hotel at Halong Bay and 2 days/1 night sailing on Halong Bay on a luxury cruise ship with your own 33 sqm suite (including balcony). Cost is USD 950 pp (USD 1,900 per couple/twin) and USD 1,650 for single traveller.
Your tour hosts are Adrienne Witteman and David Cooper, Directors/Co-Owners of Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours. Both are enthusiastic golfers and longstanding members of one of Sydney’s most prestigious golf clubs. They have golfed and cruised extensively around the world and invite you to join them on this fantastic cruise and golf tour.

Preceding our Vietnam land golf tour, is a golf cruise on the Mekong River from Saigon to Siem Reap which concludes in Siem Reap on 19 March 2027. Those deposited on the Mekong River Golf Cruise will have priority option to join our Vietnam tour and receive a credit of AUD 250 pp to their flight from Siem Reap to Hanoi on either 19 or 20 March 2027.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Saturday 20 March 2027 – Hanoi
Arrive independently at Hanoi International Airport and enjoy a personal transfer to our luxury 5 star hotel, The Sofitel Metropole, one of the great hotels of Asia and the stand out luxury hotel in Hanoi. We will stay in Luxury Rooms (32 sqm) and offer either Queen or twin beds. Upgrade options to Grand Luxury Room (37 sqm – King Bed) or Grand Premium room (47 sqm – King Bed) are available on request and subject to availability. All the above 3 x room categories have walk in showers. Your hosts visited the hotel earlier this year and can confirm that it is a stunning hotel, low rise, well situated in the heart of Hanoi and decorated throughout in a historic Vietnam/French style. You will love this hotel, in particular the public areas (including bars and restaurants) situated both inside and in the outside areas.
Our stay in Hanoi, will see us play 3 of the city’s leading golf courses and spending a day touring the city with concentration on its history including the French occupation and Vietnam War. While transfer distances are not long to the 3 x golf courses we play, travel times are relatively lengthy due to congestion on roads and the absence of motorways to and from the centre of Hanoi.
Pre tour (or post tour if preferred), we are offering a 3 day/2 night private tour to Halong Bay which includes return transfers from Sofitel Metropole, 1 night in 5 star hotel and 2 days/1 night sailing on Halong Bay on a luxury cruise ship with your own 33 sqm suite (including balcony). Cost is USD 950 pp (USD 1,900 per couple/twin) and USD 1,650 for single traveller.
For those arriving prior to the tour commencement, accommodation is USD 475 per night inclusive of taxes, service charges and breakfast.
Tonight, meet at 7.00 pm for Trendsetter Travel welcome drinks and dinner at The Sofitel Metropole in a private room.
Day 2 – Sunday 21 March 2027 – Hanoi – Golf Game 1 – Long Bien Golf Course
Our 1st game on tour is on the Long Bien Golf Course, a 20 minute, 9 km coach transfer from The Sofitel Metropole. As with all our golf courses in Vietnam, golf will be played with your own motorised cart and personal caddie. This is a 27 x hole facility and was designed by Nelson and Haworth. It is famous for its conditioning and importantly is by far the nearest located golf course to the centre of Hanoi. This is an easy start into your 8 game golf tour of Vietnam.

Day 3 – Monday 22 March 2027 – Guided Tour of Hanoi
Today, enjoy touring Hanoi, a day designed with a bias towards the history of the Vietnam War and Australia’s involvement in that conflict. Lunch will be served at a highly recommended local restaurant (beer and wine included), after which we will continue enjoying the sights. Or, for those who wish to rest up after lunch, we’ll make a post-lunch stop at The Sofitel Metropole.
Day 4 – Tuesday 23 March 2027 – Hanoi – Golf Game 2 – BRG Legend Hill Golf Club
Today we are booked to play the BRG Legend Hill Golf Club, an approximate 60 minute, 36 km drive from our hotel. Highly rated, this is the 1st Jack Nicklaus designed golf course in Vietnam.

Day 5 – Wednesday 24 March 2027 – Hanoi - Golf Game 3 – BRG Kings Island Golf Resort (Kings Course)
This will perhaps be the highlight of our 3 x Hanoi golf games. After a circa 60 minute coach transfer, we board a speed boat (several for our group) which takes us across a lake to an island where the BRG Kings Island Golf Resort is located. The resort has 3 x golf courses. We will play the Jack Nicklaus designed Kings Course (2018), the highest ranked for the 3 x golf courses.

Day 6 – Thursday 25 March 2027 – Hanoi – Da Nang
This morning enjoy free time to independently explore Hanoi, shop, or for some collect your new made-to-measure clothing.
Early afternoon, we fly to Da Nang and have a coach transfer to our hotel base for the next 5 nights. The then largely unknown Da Nang became world famous as this was the beach where the first United States combat troops arrived in Vietnam (1965). It was then developed into a major military air force base. Da Nang, and its neighbouring areas, is now a prosperous city with many 4 to 5 star tourist hotels and the must visit place for golf in Vietnam. We will play 3 of the best golf courses in the Da Nang area.
We will not stay in Da Nang but base ourselves in the beautiful nearby town of Hoi An, now a world heritage site. Our hotel is the 5 star Anantara Hotel, located within Hoi An, making exploring Hoi An both convenient and walking distance to the many local restaurants.
Day 7 – Friday 26 March 2027 – Da Nang – Golf Game 4 – Da Nang Golf Club – Norman Course
Greg Norman courses can be found all over the world and today will be our 1st of two Greg Norman courses we play on tour. There are 2 x golf courses at the resort, a Norman and Nicklaus course. Built in 2010, we chose the Norman course because of the architect, the higher ranking and the links layout (always our favourite). A 25 minute drive from our hotel, we have been accorded a 2 x tee start from 10:56 to 11:28 AM.

Day 8 – Saturday 27 March 2027 – Da Nang – Golf Game 5 – Hoiana Shores Golf Club
Today we play Hoiana Shores Golf Club, rated #1 golf course in Vietnam until the development of the Greg Norman Course at Vung Tao. This is a links layout, magnificent to play with grand clubrooms following the completion of your round. We have a 2 x tee start from 10.48 am with the course a less than 20 minute transfer from our hotel.
Day 9 – Sunday 28 March 2027 – Da Nang – Guided Tour
A rest day from golf, our tour is for a full Day and includes the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of My Son and the Hoi An Ancient Town. After lunch, there will be a drop off at our hotel for those that do not want to continue with the afternoon leg of the tour.
Day 10 – Monday 29 March 2027– Da Nang - Golf Game 6 – Ba Na Hills
Without any nearby hotel developments, today we play Ba Na Hills, one of your hosts’ favourite golf courses in Asia. Great management, wonderful layout and pleasant club rooms to finish your round with a cold drink. Many who have golfed in Vietnam rate this the # 1 golf course they played. We have been accorded an 11.33 am 2 x tee start – the course is a near 60 minute drive as it is located in the hills well inland from Da Nang. But, certainly worth the drive.
Day 11 – Tuesday 30 March 2027 – Da Nang/Vang Tau – Fly to Saigon
Late morning we transfer to Da Nang airport and fly to Saigon and have a 2 hour plus transfer to Vung Tau our base for the following 4 days. Apart from being a popular seaside resort, we have chosen this place as it is the location of the # 1 ranked golf course in Vietnam and is nearby Nuit Dat where the Australian Army Task Force was based during the Vietnam War. Vung Tau was the main base for rest and recreation of the Australian soldiers when granted leave during their 12 month tour of duty to Vietnam. During our time in Vang Tau we will play 2 x games of golf on the Greg Norman designed The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Golf Course and have a half day tour (optional) of Nuit Dat and the nearby site of the Battle of Long Tan.
We will base ourselves for 4 x nights at the 5 star high rise Intercontinental Hotel which is located just 1.3 km from the The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Golf Course clubrooms.
Day 12 – Wednesday 31 March 2027 – Golf Game 7 - The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Golf Course
Breakfast is served from 6 am at our hotel.
We have a relaxing morning at our resort hotel before transferring by courtesy coach the short distance to The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Golf Course. We have a 2 x tee start from the 1st and 10th tees from 11.54 am with 8 minute tee intervals. Following drinks and prize giving, we will be transferred back to our hotel by the courtesy coach. The following image of the course shows our beach side hotel in the background

Day 13 – Thursday 1 April 2027 – Vang Tau - Optional Guided Tour – Free Day
Around 9 am we will leave with a local guide to travel the 35 minutes (23 km) from Vung Tau to Nuit Dat, the site of the Australian Army Task Force base from 1965 to 1972 – where most of the continuously manned 7,000 army contingent in Vietnam was based. Battalions in the Task Force regularly patrolled the local areas and on a fateful day on 18 August 1966 a company (around 108 soldiers) from the base ran into a regular North Vietnamese army force many times its size. A heated battle took place over a period of several hours during which 18 Australian soldiers were killed and a further 24 wounded. The dead included the first conscripted National Serviceman Officer (Lieutenant Gordon Sharp, a commander of one of the 3 x platoons involved in the battle). The total Australian force only avoided complete annihilation due to extremely accurate artillery fire from the NZ artillery company which was based at Nuit Dat. Shells were landing immediately ahead of the forward Australian positions as the North Vietnamese were about to over-run the Australian company position. This remains the biggest battle (in terms of casualties) fought by Australian forces since the Korean War. Our tour includes a visit to Nuit Dat and to the rubber plantation where the battle was fought (refer image).
This is an optional tour and we expect to return to our hotel at lunch time when there will be an included lunch (with drinks) – those who elect not to join the morning tour will of course be invited to the lunch back at our hotel. The afternoon and evening will be free with no scheduled events.
Day 14 – Friday 2 April 2027 – Vang Tau – Golf Game 8 - The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Golf Course
Following an early breakfast, this morning we will play The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Golf Course for a 2nd time. We have a 2 x tee start from the 1st and 10th tees from 7.54 am with 8 minute tee intervals (noting breakfast is available from 6 am). Post golf, drinks and prize giving, we will be transferred back to our hotel by the courtesy coach.
There will be a free afternoon and evening at our resort hotel.

Day 15 – Saturday 3 April 2027 – Vang Tau/Saigon – Tour Ends
We have chosen to return for a final night in Saigon so all our tour party are well located near Tan Son Nhat International Airport for their flight home the following day and avoid needing to change flights to fly out of Vietnam. Our experience in travelling around Vietnam earlier in 2025 taught us to avoid having connecting internal flights in Vietnam. As an aside, during periods of the Vietnam War, Son Nhat International Airport was the busiest airport in the world.
You will have a free time most of the morning before we have a late morning (around 11.30 am) coach transfer (with luggage van) to Saigon for our final night in Vietnam. It will be an approximate 2 hour 30 minute transfer. You will have free time to independently explore Saigon that afternoon.
We will stay at The Reverie Saigon , a luxury 5 star hotel and member of Leading Hotels of the World. Our rooms are Deluxe, measure 42/43 sqm, offer king or twin beds, and feature panoramic views over Saigon. The bathrooms have a separate shower and bath.
For those looking to extend their stay in Saigon post the end of tour, you can stay at The Reverie Saigon for USD 300 per night inclusive of taxes, service charges and breakfast pursuant to our group rate.
Tonight, meet at 7.00 pm for Trendsetter Travel welcome drinks and dinner at The Reverie.
Day 16 – Sunday 4 April 2027 – Saigon – Tour Ends
Say goodbye to your many new found friends today as we end the tour after breakfast. Enjoy an included airport transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport (available on a subsequent day if you extend your stay in Saigon). As an aside, at certain times during the Vietnam war, Tan Son Nhat International Airport was the busiest airport in the world in terms of aircraft landings and take offs.
