Under the current promotion, guests on a double/twin share occupancy receive a USD 500 pp on board credit from Seabourn. In addition, due to Trendsetter Travel being a Virtuoso agency, you will also receive an additional US$175pp on board credit from Seabourn. This increases the total on board credit to USD 675 pp for double/twin share suite occupancy. All past guests of Seabourn receive a 5% discount on advertised fares. For singles, the current fare is approximately 162% of the twin share per person room rate. In addition, single bookings receive a total USD 1,175 on board credit. All Seabourn Ovation standard staterooms have a balcony and are categorized V1 to V4. Above V4, you move into the penthouse categories.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Wednesday 8 May 2024 – Lisbon – Depart 5 PM

Arrive independently in Lisbon and board Seabourn Ovation early afternoon. This evening, meet your fellow tour participants for a 6.30 pm early evening introductory cocktail function followed by dinner in the main restaurant.  Thereafter, dinners are on an independent basis.

Pre-cruise we can offer and book a range of hotels in Lisbon.   Trendsetter has access to a number of Virtuoso hotels which booking through Trendsetter Travel offers early check-in, late check out, automatic room upgrade (subject to availability) and a Euro 85 food and beverage credit.

Day 2 – Thursday 9 May 2024 – Porto, Portugal – in Port 8 AM/5 PM – Golf – Game 1

We have a full shore day at Porto, the largest city in Portugal after Lisbon.   For those not golfing, there is the historic port area of Porto to explore or take one of the Seabourn shore tours.

Golf – Game 1: – we drive north of Porto and play Estela Golf Club, a magnificent links course facing the Atlantic Ocean.  It is the # 1 rated course in Northern Portugal and is considered one of the best links courses in all Portugal.

Day 3 – Friday 10 May 2024 – Ferrol, Spain – in Port 10 AM/6 PM - Golf – Game 2

Ferrol serves as gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Santiago de Compostela and the Tower of Hercules. It also offers entrée to Galicia’s many lovely beaches and quaint towns. The port city rose to prominence in the 18th century when King Ferdinand VI established Northern Spain’s largest arsenal here; and its illustrious martime past is on display at the old shipbuilding yards, naval museum and Captaincy Palace.

Golf – Game 2: Today we play XAZ Golf Club (2018) , the most recently built golf course in north west Spain. Designed by International golf design partnership of Stirling and Martin, the par 72 course measures 6,100 metres. Its relatively recent construction and remote location is surely the reason why it has not yet appeared in the leading Spanish golf course ratings.

Day 4 – Saturday 11 May 2024 – Day at Sea

Today is one of 2 well- spaced sea days and will provide an excellent opportunity to explore the ship following a leisurely breakfast.

Day 5 – Sunday 12 May 2024 – Waterford – In Port 8 AM to 5 PM – Golf - Game 3

For the non-golfers, there is the possibility of a visit to the Waterford Crystal Visitors’ Centre, where you can see how the artisans cut their famous designs.  Alternatively enjoy a ship’s tour and visit the beautiful Irish countryside as you pass majestic abbey ruins, stroll through quaint villages and see remnants of Viking heritage.

Golf – Game 3: Today we play Dungarvan Golf Club, an 18 hole championship parkland course located outside the town of Dungarvan, County Waterford. The course is adjacent to Dungarvan Bay and set against the back drop of the Comeragh Mountains. The Club will celebrate its centenary in 2024.

Days 6 – Monday 13 May 2024 – Holyhead, Wales - In Port 8 AM to 5 PM – Golf – Game 4

Located in the beautiful and rugged North Wales, Holyhead offers plenty of interesting opportunities for the non-golfers including a visit to Caernarfon Castle, site of the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969.

Game 4 – After a 40 minute drive, we will play Conwy Golf Club, the # 1 ranked golf course in North Wales.  A great round is in prospect on this famous links layout which has recently been ranked # 5 of all Welsh golf courses.  Either on arrival or post our golf game, the club offers a complimentary coffee and bacon sandwich.

Day 7 – Tuesday 14 May 2024 – Londonderry – In Port 8 AM to 5 PM – Golf - Game 5

We tender into Greencastle, the port of Londonderry, an historic city offering many interesting sights to explore.  Alternatively, visit the fascinating and world famous Giant’s Causeway, a one hour drive from Londonderry.

Golf – Game 5: – Today we play Castle Rock Golf Links, located near the more famous Royal Portrush, but reputedly every bit as good and challenging.  This links layout was founded in 1901 with modifications made in 1925 by Harry Colt.  Ranked # 5 of all Northern Island’s golf courses, this is an exceptional course for us to be able to access.  We have chosen Castle Rock rather than Royal Portrush due to both pricing and availability of motorised carts – Royal Portrush charges Pds 340 pp green fees and no golf carts other than with a medical certificate but then the cart will be driven by a caddie (thus 1 person to a cart at a significant cost).  Our tours now require the courses we play to have an acceptable number of golf carts – which we have been able to book at Castle Rock.

Day 8 – Wednesday 15 May 2024 - Day at Sea

Today is the 2nd of our 2 well- spaced sea days and will provide an excellent opportunity to explore the ship following a leisurely breakfast.

Day 9 – Thursday 16 May 2024 – St Malo, France – In Port 9 AM/6 PM – Golf - Game 6

Anchor this morning at the famous port city of Saint Malo.  With a long maritime history of seafarers, piracy included, this is an attractive and easy port to explore with many fascinating sites to visit.  Post golf there should be several hours of free time to explore the walled city of St Malo – a short walk from the tender wharf.

Golf – Game 6: we play St Malo Golf Resort, in our opinion the best of the many golf courses near St Malo.  It is a beautiful park land course usually in very good condition offering both a pleasant and challenging layout.  Post your golf game, there is an attractive restaurant/bar offering extensive inside and outside seating areas.

Day 10 – Friday 17 May 2024 – Cherbourg, France – In Port 8 AM to 6 PM – Game 7

Cherbourg is a major French port and made famous in June 1944 as the first major port taken by the Americans post the D Day landings.  Its close proximity to the Normandy Beaches (particularly Utah) creates the opportunity of a day trip to the D Day beaches.

Golf – Game 7: Today we play Omaha Beach Golf Club, a 36 hole championship venue which looks over Omaha Beach, scene of the famous D Day landings. With an early morning start and tee off from 10 am, there should be time to visit some of the famous D Day sites prior to returning to our ship. In particular, we will look to stop at Saint-Mere-Eglise for a drink on the way back to our ship – the first town captured on D Day and made famous in the film The Longest Day. It is well worth a visit.

Day 11 – Saturday 18 May 2024 – Dover - In Port from 7 AM

After travelling over-night from France, we will berth early morning in Dover.  You will have a last chance for a leisurely breakfast, before bidding a final farewell to new friends and old.

The Finer Details...

Inclusions, pricing and various conditions of this escorted golf cruise are:

Trendsetter has booked the courses as specified but cannot be held responsible for any late amendments or cancellations caused by events outside of its control – late arrival at or cancellation of a port due to weather conditions, storms or heavy rain necessitating cancellation of play after a round has started.  If such an event occurs Trendsetter will do its best to organise an alternative course or obtain a partial or full refund as practicable.  Please note that a full refund is NOT GUARANTEED as it may not be possible to cancel/amend contracted services, such as coach transport, within the requisite time frame.

Once the tour has commenced, should a tour participant choose not to play a particular golf course which has been prepaid, Trendsetter will refund an amount equivalent to the saving Trendsetter achieves for the non-attendance at golf that day.

Trendsetter may also change the nominated golf course if it believes it is in the best interests of the tour (eg if course conditioning is found to not be of an acceptable standard due to course maintenance works or a better golf course becomes available). You will be advised of this should such a change occur.

Payment of your golf programme constitutes acceptance of the above terms.
