At last count, Greece had only 10 x 18-hole golf courses. This would normally suggest that Greece is far from a powerhouse of European golf however having played the top 5 Greek golf courses in October 2024, we can report that these 5 golf courses are up with the best in Europe. Furthermore, the Costa Navarino Golf Resort, with the top 4 golf courses in Greece, is arguably the number one golf resort in Europe and compares favourably with the best in the world. This is a standout golfing location, with the resort offering 4 x five-star hotels (Mandarin Oriental, W Hotel, Westin and Romanos) to tick all the boxes in terms of luxury accommodation, plentiful dining options, beaches and great service.
Greece is a beautiful country with a near ideal climate for golf. Its history and culture ensure it is a fascinating country to explore aside from golf. And of course, the typical Greek cuisine is a lively and fresh – think delicious lamb, plentiful olives and oils, superb salads with the best tomatoes, and regional cheeses. Our 2024 Greece experience was the prime reason for this proposed tour, one that you will undoubtedly love.
Our journey starts in Athens on 2 May 2026 with 2 nights at the 5-star Athens Capital Hotel, part of Accor’s MGallery boutique hotel collection. Its location is central Athens, but a short walk to Syntagma Square and the Greece Parliament with its hourly changing of the guard. The Parthenon, a partially restored temple which stands on a hill and dominates the city of Athens, is less than a 2km walk. Many restaurants, including one at our hotel, offer a rooftop restaurant where night-time views of the resplendent Parthenon never fail to disappoint.
Our tour continues to Crete where we fly to Heraklion, the administrative capital of Crete and the 4th largest city in Greece. It is a 25 minute transfer to the Crete Golf Club and our home for the next 4 nights, the Crete Golf Club Hotel. The Crete Golf Club and Hotel sit on a hill with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This is the only 18 hole golf course in Crete and we will play it twice. What a course – one exciting hole after another with excellent course conditioning throughout. The hotel includes 26 rooms, all of a high standard and large at 45 sqm (including balcony), with stunning views of the golf course and surrounding area. There is a lovely lounge and balcony area, perfect for after golf drinks and snacks. Apart from 2 golf games, our stay at the Crete Golf Club will include a day’s guided tour of the island of Crete followed by an included lunch (and drinks). Also included is an evening out in Heraklion when we coach into the old town with included dinner and drinks at one of the leading local fish restaurants.
From Crete, we fly direct to either Kalamata or to Athens (air schedule dependent) and then coach to the Costa Navarino Golf Resort. We will stay here 6 nights and play 4 golf games – one each at all four of the resorts outstanding golf courses.
The golf courses are tremendous. All are impeccably maintained and conditioning, layouts and Aegean views easily rival golf courses such as Kauri Cliffs. We have been to many of the great and/or famous golf resorts throughout the world (e.g. Pebble Beach, Kiawah Island, Bandon Dunes and Gleneagles) and without doubt Costa Navarino is at worst equivalent but probably better than the best we have ever visited. Factor in the great weather at Costa Navarino, and a relatively favorable cost structure and it’s a winner.
Our tour concludes after the Costa Navarino stay, from where we have included a transfer to either Kalamata (30 minutes) or Athens (3 ½ hours) for onward connection to your next destination.
Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours will run a back-to-back European Golf Cruise (which may be either ocean or river) commencing shortly after the Greece Golf Tour ends. Those booked on the Greece golf tour will have an automatic option to join our golf cruise which will likely come with priority access to the best rooms (if a river golf cruise). Trendsetter Travel will provide an AUD 250 pp contribution to your cost of transferring to the commencement place for the expected golf cruise.
Itinerary
Saturday 2 May 2026
Arrive independently at Athens airport and transfer to Athens Capital Hotel, an M Gallery Collection Hotel, for a 2 night stay. You will stay in Deluxe King Bedded city view rooms with walk in showers. At 29 sqm, the rooms are large by Athens’ standards and are two categories up from the lead in Classic Rooms. Extra nights pre tour are available at our group rate.
Tonight at 6.30 pm we meet for welcome drinks and dinner on the roof top restaurant of our hotel with its views of the Parthenon.

Sunday 3 May 2026 – Athens – Free Day
Today is a free day to independently explore Athens. The Parthenon dominates Athens from its elevated position on a hill. This is a must see visit and a mere 20 minute walk to the ticket office and a further 10 minute walk up the hill to the Parthenon. While you can taxi around Athens, it is an easy city to explore by foot with so much to see and history to experience. Adjacent to our hotel is the historic Grand Bretagne Hotel, headquarters for the occupying British and German forces in WWII. We recommend you visit the hotel for a drink in its historic bar or perhaps dine at the hotel’s roof top restaurant, renowned for its stunning evening views of the Parthenon. Wherever you dine, reservations are recommended for notable restaurants with roof top views of the Parthenon.

Monday 4 May 2026 – Athens – Flight to Crete - Crete
Enjoy free time before our expected early afternoon 55 minute flight to Heraklion. On arrival, transfer to Crete Golf Club and Hotel.
This evening you can rest up and dine inside, or outside on the large deck with views of the 18th green. We dined there in October 2024 and the restaurant was tremendous, reasonably priced with a spectacular ambience.

Tuesday 5 May 2026 – Crete – Golf – Game 1
Enjoy an expansive buffet breakfast before our first round of two games at the Crete Golf Club. The golf club is the only 18-hole golf club on Crete and it is a great experience to play. It is not a long course and the straight hitters will certainly score well. Remember to take your camera for beautiful pictures of stunning golf hole after golf hole as you wind around the valleys and hills surrounding the hotel.
This evening, we will coach to Heraklion and dine at one of the leading local fish restaurants (expected to be Saradari – https://www.saradari.com/en/ ) facing the waterfront with great sea and sunset views. There will be time to walk around the Old Town before we dine.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 – Crete – Tour of Island
After breakfast, we leave at 9 am for a tour of this beautiful and mountainous island including a late lunch in Heraklion and time to wander around this historic town. The town was successfully defended by Australian troops in May 1941 against the German paratroop/glider invasion. When the key western part of the island was lost to the Germans, the 2 x Australian battalions were disembarked at night by sea back to the port of Alexandria in Egypt.

Thursday 7 May 2026 – Crete – Golf – Game 2
Mid-morning, we will play our second game at the Crete Golf Club. Apart from our daily competitions, you will also be playing for the Trendsetter Travel Crete trophy (played over 36 holes – with ladies, mens and 2BBB competitions). Independent dining tonight at the Crete Golf Club when the 36 hole winners will be announced.

Friday 8 May 2026 – Fly to Costa Navarino
After breakfast, we will transfer to Heraklion Airport for our flight to the Greek mainland and our 6 night stay at Costa Navarino https://www.costanavarino.com . Depending upon available flights (schedules are not yet available), we will either fly to Athens and coach 3 ½ hours or, fly to the smaller Kalamata Airport with a 30 minute coach transfer to Costa Navarino. If we travel via Athens, it is a magnificent drive through the mountain valleys of the Peloponnese Region, including a crossing of the Corinth Canal (with a chance to stop and take photographs) to Costa Navarino.
On arrival at Costa Navarino, you will check into the beachside W Hotel and stay in either a Wonderful Bay Guest Room Sea View Or Spectacular Panorama Guest Room Sea View each with its own private balcony – refer link – https://www.costanavarino.com/w-costa-navarino-accommodation-2/ Your room will be 40 sqm with a walk in shower and views of the Aegean Sea. The W Hotel enjoys convenient access to the four courses.
The Costa Navarino Resort itself has 18 restaurants allowing a wide range of dining options. You can download the local app and make bookings in a convenient manner. The remainder of today is free for you to independently explore the resort and its offerings.
There are 3 sets of clubrooms with the Hills and Olympic courses sharing common club rooms. After golf, the bars and lounges of all 3 clubrooms provide wonderful service and stunning views of the respective golf courses and surrounding landscapes. After each round (other than the final round), Costa Navarino will either store your clubs or transfer them to the next course, per our golf schedule.
Our package at Costa Navarino includes accommodation, breakfast and 4 games of golf per person, one at each of the 4 golf courses. We are promised group tee off times as close as possible to 10 am. Tee off times are at 10-minute intervals with all players utilising motorised carts.

Saturday 9 May 2026 – Costa Navarino – Golf Game 3 – Dunes Golf Club
After a relaxing breakfast, transfer to your first golf game, most probably at the Dunes Golf Club. The Dunes Course, the first signature-designed golf course in Greece, opened in May 2010. It was designed by two-time US Masters Champion and former Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Langer in association with European Golf Design. This championship course, set in a diverse natural landscape, offers spectacular sea and river views and incorporates some links-style features in areas closest to the sea. Parts of the course venture into olive and fruit groves, while some holes run along a small river – the Sellas – which meanders through the site. Combined with large undulating greens, wide fairways and steep-faced pot bunkers, the links element of the course adds to its unique style and playability.

Sunday 10 May 2026 – Costa Navarino – Golf Game 4 – Bay Course
The 18-hole, Par 71 seaside Bay Course at Navarino Bay, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, provides both a fun experience and a challenging test for golfers of all levels. Just a few minutes from the Dunes Course, the Bay Course offers an alternative set of challenges and choices in a quite different setting. With most tees offering sublime sea views and two holes playing along the historic Bay of Navarino, this will be the favourite course for many. The course is a little shorter than the Dunes Course and meanders through three distinct natural landscapes.

Monday 11 May 2026 – Costa Navarino – Free Day
Today give your body a rest from golf to enjoy all that Costa Navarino has to offer. Perhaps some water sports or simply relaxing by the pool or beachside. Explore the small shopping centre adjacent to the W Hotel, or spend some time in the spa. Those who love a stroll can walk a couple of kilometres along the beach to an authentic Greek village where the tavernas serve the freshest of fish.

Tuesday 12 May 2026 – Costa Navarino – Golf Game 5 – Hills Course
Costa Navarino continues to be developed as a year-round integrated resort with alternative tourism elements featuring additional innovative tourism and recreation facilities, excellent golf, dedicated wellness and countryside activities while highlighting the uniqueness of the area. The latest expansion saw the building of two new 18-hole golf courses, the Hills Course and the Olympic Course, both designed by two-time Masters champion and Ryder Cup legend José Marίa Olazábal. Both courses sit above the coastline and offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the Bay of Navarino and the Ionian Sea. These are the 3rd and 4th golf courses of the Costa Navarino golf resort. The courses are located a scenic 20 minute drive from your hotel.
Today we play the Hills course which at times is routed near the coastline with stunning views. This rivals the Bay Course as our favourite of the four golf courses.
Alongside the two courses, is the stunning Hills Clubhouse, which serves both the Hills and Olympic golf courses.

Wednesday 13 May 2026 – Costa Navarino – Golf Game 6 – Olympic Course
Today, we play the 4th of Costa Navarino’s four golf courses, the Olympic Course. Probably the hardest of the four golf courses, it weaves through the hills and presents a challenge to play close to your handicap.
Tonight, we will have our final tour drinks and dinner (including drinks) at one of the many restaurants at the resort.

Thursday 14 May 2026 – Costa Navarino – Tour Ends
Following breakfast, your Greek tour comes to an end. You can stay extra nights post tour at Costa Navarino at our special group rate – these are available on request and our rate varies dependent if you wish to include golf in your room rate. Golf at Costa Navarino is always heavily booked and reservations for extra games will need to be made as early as possible for the best chance to play at preferred times.
A departure transfer to either Athens, Athens Airport or Kalamata Airport is included irrespective of departure date from Costa Navarino.

The Finer Details ...
1. Inclusions
• Meals as specified to include breakfast daily and selected lunches and dinners. Apart from the welcome/farewell dinners and a night out in Heraklion, we have left you free to enjoy dinner as you please. Athens and Costa Navarino offer plentiful dining experiences for you to enjoy;
• Golf as specified with green fees and all with carts;
• Coach transfers as a group to and from golf courses and to airports;
• 1 day of touring of Crete and a free day in Costa Navarino.
2. The full cost of the golf tour is EUR 6,600 pp (golfer) on a twin share basis (EUR 13,200 per couple/pair). A pricing adjustment of EUR 1,700 pp is provided for any non-golfers reducing the cost to EUR 4,900 pp for a non golfer on a twin share basis with a golfer. The price for a single golfer guest is EUR 8,500.
3. A non-refundable deposit of AUD 3,000 pp (AUD 6,000 per couple/pair) is required at time of booking. If for whatever reason you need to cancel from the tour, we will refund 80% of your deposit payment subject to a replacement guest being found for the tour to take your place. For singles, the deposit is AUD 5,000.
• The non-refundable total cost of the tour will be due in full by 31 December 2025. The total tour cost will be calculated in AUD at the prevailing AUD/EUR exchange rate on or about 23 December 2025 with Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours using a more favorable rate than the best rate quoted by any of the big four Australian trading banks. The net amount payable in AUD is this sum less the AUD deposit paid.
4. Payment may be made either by bank transfer to the following:

Alternatively, we can process your credit card manually in our Sydney office. Whether using Travelpay or paying us using your credit card, all payments are subject to a recovery of merchant fee charges of approximately 1% for Visa/Mastercard and 2% for AMEX.
5. Comprehensive travel insurance is required – and is recommended at the time of deposit to fully protect your payments in the unfortunate event of cancellation. Please ensure coverage for any pre-existing illnesses.
6. Accommodation has been booked for all 12 nights of the tour and tee times have been booked for all 6 golf games.
7. We have negotiated the right for you to arrive earlier than 2 May 2026 (as we assume many guests will so choose) to stay additional nights at the Athens Capital Hotel at our agreed group room rate of EUR 550 per night (including breakfast and taxes) plus an environmental levy of EUR 15 per room night. Single occupancy rooms will be EUR 525 per room night plus environmental levy.
8. You can stay extra nights post tour at Costa Navarino at our special group rate – these are available on request and our rate varies dependent if you wish to include golf in your room rate. Golf is booked out heavily in advance and it is possible, but unlikely, that additional golf games can be booked when you are at the resort.
