You are invited to join Trendsetter Travel Golf Tour’s inaugural South American Golf Tour, visiting Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls and Rio de Janeiro. Argentina is a superb golfing destination with around 300 golf courses and over 40,000 registered golfers. It has produced multiple winners of major tournaments on the PGA and European Tours. Famously, Adam Scott’s 2013 Masters victory was against Argentina’s Angel Cabrera, himself a past champion in 2009. And while Brazil is lesser known as a golfing nation, it nonetheless offers 75 golf courses. The most well-known of these is the 2016 Olympic Course in Rio de Janeiro, where Justin Rose and Inbee Park each won gold medals.
The tour comprises a total of thirteen nights – five nights in each of the two most iconic South American cities, namely Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, in the middle of which we’ll visit the stunning Iguazu Falls for three nights. By limiting our itinerary to just 3 hotels, guests can enjoy the luxury of minimal packing and unpacking.
All three hotels are rated 5-star properties. Of course, breakfast is included daily, with other meals as specified. 8 of the 13 nights will see you have Junior Suite (minimum) accommodation and in Rio you will stay in the Fairmont Hotel located on Copacabana Beach.
The golf programme has been designed to ensure sufficient motorised carts for all players, which fact precludes play in Patagonia and Mendosa and most Buenos Aires golf courses.
However, those looking for a taste of Patagonia and beyond to the Antarctic Peninsula, are invited to consider joining Trendsetter’s Antarctic cruise onboard the luxury exploration vessel Silver Cloud (10 nights – 27 February to 9 March 2025). Guests doing both the Antarctica cruise and the South American Golf Tour will receive an air credit of $250 pp. In addition, you will receive an onboard cruise credit of USD200 per person, while new-to-Silversea guests (and referring friends) may benefit by up to an extra $650 per suite.

This tour is strictly limited to a maximum of 26 golfers plus your two hosts. Unlimited non-golfing partners are welcome and ample attractions and experiences in each of the 3 destinations ensures they will find plenty to enjoy. The tour will operate irrespective of numbers.
We do not expect to repeat this tour. Thus, if you want to join a hosted golf group tour of South America and visit the two great cities of Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, plus the incomparable Iguazu Falls, this is the perfect tour for you.
Your tour hosts are Adrienne Witteman and David Cooper, Directors, and Co-Owners of Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours. Both are enthusiastic golfers and longstanding members of one of Sydney’s most prestigious golf clubs. They have golfed extensively throughout the world and have jointly hosted over 40 international golf tours arranged by Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours.

Wednesday 19 March 2025 – Golf Game 5 – Olympic Golf Course
Today we play the Olympic Golf Course, designed by American golf course architect Gil Hanse specifically for the 2016 Olympic Games. Golf returned to the Olympics after an absence of 112 years and Hanse was one of the eight world leading architects who bid for the prestigious design mandate.
Walk the same fairways as Justin Rose, who fought Swede Henrik Stenson for the Men’s gold medal, and Inbee Park who won out over Lydia Ko.
The Olympic Course is rated number 1 in Rio and number 2 in Brazil. Reviews of the golf course and the overall layout are very positive, and we look forward to our game there.
Thursday 20 March 2025 – Golf Game 6 – Gavea Golf Club
We venture today to Gavea Golf Club, reportedly Rio’s most prestigious private golf club. Overlooked by Pedra da Gavea, an enormous rocky out crop, the course dates to 1921 and was increased from 9 to 18 holes in 1929. While not long by today’s standards, it plays much longer than its yardage would indicate.
The famous Canadian golf architect Stanley Thompson lived for 6 months in Brazil in 1935 and part of his time there was spent redesigning Gavea Golf Club. It was recently re-modelled by Gil Hanse, contemporaneous with his build of the the Olympic course.
Gavea Golf Club has hosted the Brazil Golf Open 16 times since 1945 with illustrious winners at the course including Gary Player (twice) and Billy Casper. Reviews indicate it is a spectacular course to play with many significant elevation changes and short strategic golf holes.

Saturday 22 March 2025 - Golf Game 7 – Olympic Golf Club
Fittingly, we return to play the final game of our South American golf tour at the Olympic Golf Course. This is your last time to shine and where better to do so than at the Olympic!
