Lisbon to Belfast – May 2027 – Silver Dawn

Silversea - Lisbon to Belfast Golf Cruise - 12 to 24 May 2027 (12 Nights)

from AUD 15,300 pp twin share for luxury stateroom (plus discount of AUD 650/room for guests new to Silversea)

Trendsetter Travel Golf Tours welcomes your joining us on this delightful cruise aboard the ultra-luxury 596 (max) guest Silver Dawn, offering a wonderful opportunity to experience beautiful ports and play at selected highly regarded golf courses, many of which rate as the leading courses in their respective countries.

Silver Dawn offers a selection of 8 different restaurants with only 2 of the restaurants subject to a surcharge.  Staterooms have a minimum internal area of 31 sqm (which includes separate bath and shower) and unlimited standard wifi.  Balconies add an additional 5 sqm. We believe at 36 sqm, these are the largest lead in balcony suites available in the small luxury cruise market.

The perfect size for enjoying smaller ports, you’ll love waking up most mornings in a new location, with every day being a port day.  The itinerary is relaxed, offering particularly long port days to maximise your pleasure ashore.  Mid to late May is a perfect time to visit this region – the summer crowds will not yet have arrived and temperatures should be pleasantly warm to take advantage of balcony staterooms, or relaxing deck-side.

All Silversea cruises include beverages in suite and throughout the ship (over 80 complimentary wines are available), gratuities, butler service and open seating at restaurants.  Silversea is famous for its guest offering of complimentary “champagne and caviar anytime anywhere” on ship.   For most ports, Silversea offers a local included 2 to 4 hour tour of the local attractions.  However, there are many extensive tours offered which require a fee to be paid.

Our promoted pricing is Port to Port, a discounted price without economy air (upgradable to Business Class at a price) and without limousine transfers.   Upon request, we can provide pricing on a Door to Door fare basis which includes both air and limousine transfers.

Trendsetter offers a golf programme covering 9 golf courses at 8 different ports.  You can choose to play no golf, all 9 possible games or any combination between.  Golf costs average circa Euro 250 to EUR 300 pp/round and include coach transfers, green fees, shared motorised cart, drinks post golf and prize money each round.  In most situations, the courses we play are the best available within an acceptable driving distance of each respective port.  The golf programme is priced at near cost to Trendsetter.  Several months in advance of the golf cruise, we will provide a detailed golf programme (with exact costs) from which you can make an election as to which courses you wish to play.

You will receive a USD 200 pp ship board credit although this is subject to Silversea permitting Virtuoso credits on your particular cruise fare booked (the current port to port and door to door cruise fares qualifies for the ship board credit).  New guests to Silversea receive an AUD 650/stateroom discount.

Adrienne Witteman and David Cooper are your tour hosts. We have golfed extensively throughout the world, and have organised and hosted many successful golf cruises, particularly in the Mediterranean.  Unlike many other golf tour operators, we deal directly with the relevant service providers. This enables us to provide competitively priced golf at the best available courses and with no reduction in quality.

In addition to our golf cruises, Trendsetter Travel & Cruise Centre operates a retail travel agency on Sydney’s lower North Shore.  We are able to book all of your travel requirements, and as members of the Virtuoso network can offer an excellent choice of hotels – with attractive free benefits – to perfectly complement your luxury golf cruise.  We invite you to join us for yet another exciting luxury golf cruise!

Itinerary

Day 1 – Wednesday 12 May 2027 – Lisbon (depart 7 pm)

Today board Silver Dawn in Lisbon to commence your 12 night cruise.  Boarding is usually possible from 12 noon with time to have a relaxing lunch on board.  Silver Dawn’s berth in Lisbon is a short walk to historic down-town Lisbon.

We will schedule a welcome private cocktail function at approximately 6.30 pm which will allow all the tour party to meet up and Adrienne and David will provide a briefing on the golf cruise.

Day 2 – Thursday 13 May 2027 – Porto – in port 9.00 am to 11 pm (Golf – Game 1)

We have a full shore day at Porto, the largest city in Portugal after Lisbon.  For non-golfers, there is plenty to explore around the historic port area of Porto.  Or you might elect to take one of the Silversea shore tours.

Golf Option – Game 1: – we drive north of Porto and play Estela Golf Club, a magnificent links course facing the Atlantic Ocean.  It is the # 1 rated course in Northern Portugal and is considered one of the best links courses in all Portugal.

Day 3 – Friday 14 May 2027 – Sea Day

Today is your 1st of two sea days and will provide an excellent opportunity to explore the ship following a leisurely breakfast.

Day 4 – Saturday 15 May 2027 – Santander – in port 8 am to 11 pm (Golf – Game 2)

Our ship berths in Santander in Northern Spain for 15 hours today offering time for both exploring the local port and for a game of golf

Golf Option – Game 2: – we will play Real Pedrena Golf Club, a short drive from the port.   The course was designed by Harry Colt in 1928, has held 3 x Spanish Opens and it is the course where Seve Ballesteros learnt his golf.   The course is currently ranked # 15 in Spain and ranks in the top 100 golf courses in Europe.

Day 5 – Sunday 16 May 2027 – San Sebastian – in port 8 am to 6 pm (Golf – Game 3)

San Sebastian, also known as Donostia, is set in the Basque Country of northern Spain on the coast of the Bay of Biscay and is just 25 km from the Spain/France border.  Its strategic location makes it a popular destination for tourists seeking a mix of stunning landscapes, cultural experiences, and culinary delights.

Golf Option – Game 3: – golf today involves a short 30 minute drive across the French border to play Chantago Golf Club.  The course dates back to its original design by Harry Colt but in 2018 it went through an extensive renovation of both the golf course and clubs rooms.  The course hosted the Ladies Open de France from 2012 to 2017 and the French Open for their male counterparts was also held here in 1970, an event won by Australian David Graham.  Rave reviews have resulted since completion of the renovation works in 2020.  With 10 hours in port, there should be time to both golf and have a look around the port town of San Sebastian.

Day 6 – Monday 17 May 2027 – Bordeaux - arrive 10 am – stay overnight (Golf – Game 4)

After a scenic journey of of 100 km from the mouth of the Gironde River, we berth at 10.00 am in the heart of BordeauxBordeaux, once France’s richest community and largest port, is now second only to Paris in terms of size.  It is most famous however for its delicious cuisine and wines, particularly from the well-known wine areas of the Medoc and Saint Emilion.  Silver Dawn berths a short walk of the historic downtown district of Bordeaux.

Golf Option – Game 4: – Today drive 60 km through the wine growing areas of Bordeaux to play the Tom Doak designed Golfique du Grand Saint-Emilionnais (2015).  While Doak is famous for his design of many great courses including Barnbougle Dunes, Pacific Dunes (Oregon) and Cape Kidnappers, this is his first design in Europe.  Since opening, it has been rated one of the top 10 courses in France.  Our early evening return to Crystal Serenity will allow time to enjoy Bordeaux by night.

Day 7 – Tuesday 18 May 2027 – Bordeaux – depart 7 pm (Golf – Game 5)

Golf Option – Game 5: – We are scheduled to play the Chateaux Course at Golf Du Medoc, one of the best golf resort complexes in France.  The Chateaux Course ranks top 10 in France and is the # 1 course in South West France.

We expect to have an early tee off from 9 am which should see us back to port by late afternoon with free time to independently explore down town Bordeaux prior to departure at 7 pm.

Day 8 – Wednesday 19 May 2027 – Sea Day

Today is your 2nd of two sea days and will provide a further opportunity to explore the ship following a leisurely breakfast and to rest up after several days of continuous potential golf.

Day 9 – Thursday 20 May 2027 – Falmouth - in port 8 am to 6 pm (Golf – Game 6)

After sailing across the Bay of Biscay, we have the pleasure of spending the day in Falmouth, one of England’s famous port towns, located near the western end of Cornwall.   The town offers much maritime history.

Golf Option – Game 6:  Today we play Perranporth Golf Club, ranked #2 in Cornwall and # 68 in England (noting there are around 2,200 golf courses in England).  The course is located in “Poldark Country” on the north west coast of Cornwall and offers many spectacular views.   We have chosen this course as it a classic links layout played up and down the dunes with a near lunar landscape.  The course was designed by James Braid (1927) and is considered one of the best links layouts in South West England.

Day 10 – Friday 21 May 2027 – Cobh – in port 8 am to 7 pm (Golf – Game 7)

Today Silver Dawn will anchor at Cobh, the seaside port for the nearby city of Cork.

Golf Option – Game 7: After a less than 15-minute coach transfer, arrive at the 27 hole Fota Island Golf Club, ranked among the top 40 golf courses in Ireland and site of 3 Irish Opens.  Following the addition of nine new Jeff Howes designed holes, which opened for play in August 2007, the 27-hole Fota Island has renamed the original 18-hole course Deerpark, the course we are scheduled to play.

Day 11 – Saturday 22 May 2027 – Dublin – in port 8 am to 10 pm (Golf – Game 8)

We berth today in Dublin for 14 hours, plenty of time for golf and to look around this famous city.  While it escaped the bombing horrors of WWII, you can learn much about the Easter Rebellion (1916) which centred around the GPO in the centre of Dublin.

Golf Option – Game 8:  Today we travel a little over 20 minutes to play at The European Club.  This course, which faces the Irish Sea on the east coast of Ireland, ranks # 5 in Ireland.  However, we have sighted many reviews where it is rated the # 1 golf course in Ireland.

Day 12 – Sunday 23 May 2027 – Holyhead – Wales – in port 8 am to 7 pm

Located in the beautiful and rugged North Wales, Holyhead offers plenty of interesting opportunities for the non-golfers including a visit to Caernarfon Castle, site of the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969.

Game 9 – After a 40 minute drive, we will play Conwy Golf Club, a magnificent links layout and the # 1 ranked golf course in North Wales.  A great round is in prospect on this famous links layout which has recently been ranked # 5 of all Welsh golf courses.  Either on arrival or post our golf game, the club has traditionally offered a complimentary coffee and bacon sandwich.  Our golf cruises last played this course in May 2022.

Day 13 – Monday 24 May 2027 – Belfast – in port 7 am – Disembarkation

After sailing over-night from Wales, we will berth early morning in Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland.  You will have a last chance for a leisurely breakfast, before bidding a final farewell to new friends and old.

By early 2026, we expect to offer a golf tour (could be golf cruise or land golf tour) which will start within a few days of the conclusion of this golf cruise.   A modest discount will be offered to those guests that sign up for both back to back tours.

The Finer Details...

As part of the golf group (regardless whether you are a golfer), ALL Trendsetter clients receive host services by Adrienne Witteman and David Cooper and a USD 200 pp on board credit (resulting from our being a Virtuoso agent).   The following pricing is the Port to Port fare option as provided by Silversea. The Port to Port Option has lower pricing than the Door to Door option but excludes Silversea Air and limousine transfers.  Door to Door pricing (including Silversea Air, upgradable to business class and limousine transfers) is available upon request.

The provision of a golf option is priced at an indicative average Euro 275 pp per round (pricing is expected to range between Euro 200 pp and Euro 450 pp) and covers green fees, coach transfers, shared motorised cart, prize money and drinks after golf.  Trendsetter has booked the courses as specified but cannot be held responsible for any cancellation/s necessitated by a change to the ship’s itinerary due to weather or any other event, or late amendment by the golf course or if a change in the golf course is considered by Trendsetter Travel in the best interests of the golf programme.  If such an event occurs and, in the unlikely event, Trendsetter cannot organise an alternative golf course, Trendsetter will pass through any refund available.  A number of the golf courses shown in our itinerary will not confirm tee times outside of 12 months.
